Hoarding Cleanup
Serving Grand Junction, Western CO, and Eastern UT
Hoarding is a psychological disorder in which individuals have difficulty getting rid of possessions. This stems from a perceived need to save items. Any attempts to throw away or give away possessions results in significant distress. Hoarding is not the same as ordinary clutter. With hoarding, the sheer accumulation of items disrupts the ability to safely use, or even occupy, living spaces.
Compassion: Essential For Hoarding Cleanups
Those unfamiliar with hoarding may assume that the problem can be fixed by simply tossing out everything.
However, it's essential to remember that hoarding is a psychological condition. Simply throwing things out without discussing and empathizing with the hoarder can backfire.
Our goal is to provide all hoarding cleaning services with the utmost compassion.
Hoarding Facts
There are many misconceptions about hoarding, so here are some facts that explain what hoarding is and is not:
Hoarding is not the same as collecting
Collectors acquire items in an orderly manner, with a narrowed scope of what they collect (example: coins, dolls, toy cars, etc.). With hoarding however, people do not have a planned or specific urge for certain items. Instead, they often just collect everything, and store it haphazardly.
There are varying levels of hoarding disorder
Not every hoarding situation is as extreme as depicted on TV. Some people have a hoarding problem, but it may not be 100% disruptive to their everyday lives.
